Last night I had a dream. A few significant people in my life have described these kinds of dreams to me before, but I did not completely grasp their significance (as is typical with us humans) until I had one myself. Last night dreamed that the love of my life was marrying someone else. I remember being tired when I woke up, because I was literally chasing my bride (what seemed like) all night. But she wasn't my bride. She was about to become someone else's, if I could not get there in time.
I recall being in a town unfamiliar to me. It wasn't Porterville and it wasn't any place in the Bay Area. It seemed strange, foreign almost - not geographically, but emotionally. A random assortment of friends and acquaintances were there - some of whom I would have rather not seen.
I kept running, running all night, with a desperate hope that I could stop this drastic mistake, that I could save my one chance at true love. It felt so real. I ran and ran, asking everyone, searching everywhere. I kept getting glimpses of you - my mystery woman. You had on your wedding gown, but I never caught your face. I woke up feeling lost, physically tearing up at the recollection of my dream, because I had not had closure. I didn't find you. I didn't see your face. I couldn't tell who you were, but I knew that you were mine and we had something indescribable.
Will I ever catch your face? Are you out there, and how do I find you? Fate?
Who are you? I must know, now. You have stolen my heart. The love I felt for you was unlike any feeling I have ever known. Remembering how I felt when I was in that dream space with you, fighting for you, for us - it was magical and unexpected. This feeling of unconditional love for a seemingly fictitious figment of my imagination consumes me now...
