I stood up for myself.
You'd be proud of me.
(I was proud of me.)
I stood tall, with my head held high,
And I stuck up for myself.
And it felt good.
Only a twinge of regret and panic
Raced through my heart
As I closed the door, relatively calmly behind me
And went back inside, alone.
What's the worst that could happen now?
You leave?
Oh, well.
I cry.
Life goes on.
But for me,
That tiny, little second in time
I was in control.
I was brave
And bold
And strong and proud.
I was Me.
